Memorial Day Weekend: The Legendary Kurtis Blow and Whodini's Grandmaster Dee

Straight from Los Angeles, it's the legendary Kurtis Blow and Grandmaster Dee from Whodini will be at the Asher Theatre on Friday, May 24th, for Asher's Memorial Day Weekend 70's and 80's Soul Train Dance Party.  

Kurtis Blow became the first Rapper to be signed by a major label. Mercury released “The Breaks,” which helped ignite a still‑spreading international “Rap Attack, and “Christmas Rappin” became an annual classic. Kurtis released 10 Albums --The first, entitled “Kurtis Blow”, and his second, a Top 50 Pop Album “Deuce,” featured a pioneering fusion of Rap and Go‑Go, “Ego Trip,” which includes the hits “8 Million Stories”, “AJ,” and “Basketball” and in 1985, “America.” 

Grandmaster Dee from Whodini is internationally renowned for his skills on the turntables and for being able to scratch almost every conceivable part of his body. Whodini is an American Hip Hop group that was formed in Brooklyn, New York–based and consisted of vocalist and main lyricist Jalil Hutchins; co-vocalist John Fletcher, a.k.a. Ecstasy and DJ Drew Carter, a.k.a. Grandmaster Dee.
